Slurry pumps are mainly used to convey slurry in industrial production, and they are indispensable in industries such as metallurgy, electric power, coal and mining. As slurry pumps are mostly used to transport slurry containing solid particles, it is essential to master relevant operating precautions in daily use.
When pumping slurry with a large number of impurity particles such as mud, install a filter screen at the water inlet. This can reduce large impurities entering the pump body, lower the risk of pump blockage and extend the service life of the slurry pump. Avoid continuous long-time operation; if standby pumps are available, adopt alternating operation mode.
During operation, place the pump steadily on flat ground. For submersible slurry pumps working underwater, put the pump body into water as required, fix the motor above the water surface firmly to ensure stable operation.
For slurry pumps equipped with mechanical seals, sufficient shaft seal water must be supplied at all times. Dry running is strictly prohibited to prevent mechanical seal damage caused by dry friction. Connect the shaft seal water before startup, and keep water supply for no less than 3 minutes after shutdown.
Slurry pumps are most widely applied in mineral processing plants for primary ore separation. Such working conditions cause severe wear on pumps and shorten their service life. The abrasion degree varies according to ore hardness and particle size.
