Precautions for Water Pump Installation

What should we pay attention to when installing a water pump? We have briefly summarized the following seven points, some of which may be very familiar to you, while others may have been overlooked before. Let’s take a look.

1. The installation position of the water pump shall meet the requirement of allowable suction vacuum height. The foundation must be horizontal and stable, ensuring that the rotation direction of the power machine is consistent with that of the water pump.
2. If there are multiple units in the same pump room, a distance of more than 800mm shall be reserved between units, and between units and walls.
3. The reserved holes on the water pump foundation shall be poured according to the dimensions of the pump.
4. Where permitted by geographical conditions, the water pump shall be installed as close to the water source as possible to reduce the length of the suction pipe. The foundation at the pump installation site shall be firm, and a special foundation shall be built for fixed pumping stations.
5. The water inlet pipeline shall be reliably sealed and equipped with special supports, and shall not be hung on the pump. For the suction pipe fitted with a foot valve, the axis of the foot valve shall be installed as vertically as possible to the horizontal plane, with an included angle of no less than 45°. When the water source is a canal, the foot valve shall be more than 0.50 meters above the canal bottom, and a strainer shall be installed to prevent debris from entering the pump.
6. The base of the motor and pump shall be horizontal and firmly connected to the foundation. For belt drive between the motor and pump, the tight side of the belt shall be at the bottom for high transmission efficiency, and the rotation direction of the pump impeller shall conform to the arrow indication. For coupling drive, the motor and pump must be coaxial.
7. The water pump suction pipe must be well sealed, with as few elbows and valves as possible. Air shall be completely exhausted when priming, and no air accumulation shall occur in the pipe during operation. The suction pipe shall be slightly inclined upward to connect with the pump inlet, and the inlet shall have a certain submergence depth.

It is quite simple to follow the above seven points, yet even small details can greatly improve our work efficiency.
